Basic Usage
Creating Tasks
Adding a New Task
- Locate the "Add New Task" section at the top of the page
- Type your task description in the input field
- Press Enter or click the "Add" button
- Your task will appear in the "My Tasks" list
Task Properties
Each task includes the following properties:
- Text: The task description
- Priority: Low, Medium, or High (defaults to Medium)
- Due Date: Optional deadline for the task
- Status: Active or Completed
Managing Tasks
Editing Tasks
- Click the edit button (pencil icon) next to any active task
- The task details panel will appear on the right
- Modify the task text, due date, or priority
- Changes are automatically saved
Completing Tasks
- Click the checkbox next to any task to mark it as complete
- Completed tasks move to the "Completed Tasks" section
- You can uncheck completed tasks to reactivate them
Deleting Tasks
- Click the delete button (trash icon) next to any task
- The task will be permanently removed
- This action cannot be undone
Task Organization
Priority System
Tasks are automatically sorted by priority:
- High Priority: Red indicator, appears first
- Medium Priority: Yellow indicator, appears second
- Low Priority: Green indicator, appears last
Due Date Management
- Tasks with due dates are sorted by deadline
- Overdue tasks are highlighted in red
- Tasks without due dates appear after dated tasks
Smart Sorting
The system automatically organizes tasks by:
- Priority level (High → Medium → Low)
- Due date (Earliest first)
- Creation time (Newest first)
Quick Actions
Sample Tasks
Click "Add Sample Tasks" to quickly populate your list with example tasks. This is useful for:
- Learning how to use the tool
- Testing different features
- Getting started quickly
Import/Export
- Export: Download all your tasks as a JSON file
- Import: Restore tasks from a previously exported file
- Format: Files use standard JSON format for compatibility
Task History
Activity Tracking
The tool automatically logs all task-related activities:
- Task creation
- Task completion
- Task updates
- Task deletion
History View
- View the last 10 activities in the History section
- Each entry shows the action type and timestamp
- Color-coded indicators for different action types
Tips for Effective Use
Task Naming
- Use clear, specific descriptions
- Keep task names concise but descriptive
- Include context when necessary
Priority Setting
- Reserve "High" priority for urgent, important tasks
- Use "Medium" for regular daily tasks
- Use "Low" for nice-to-have or long-term tasks
Due Date Strategy
- Set realistic deadlines
- Use due dates for time-sensitive tasks only
- Review and adjust dates regularly
Regular Maintenance
- Review completed tasks weekly
- Clear completed tasks periodically
- Export your data regularly as backup
