DNS Lookup

Query common DNS record types for a domain or run reverse DNS on an IP—results come from the same resolver path this site uses for server-side lookups.

What this tool does

The DNS Lookup page lets you check A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, and PTR records without opening a terminal. It is useful when you want to verify that a hostname resolves as expected, inspect mail exchangers, read TXT verification strings, or perform a quick reverse lookup on an IP.

Results reflect what the application backend sees when it queries DNS, which may differ slightly from your local dig if your laptop uses another resolver.

You can optionally set a custom DNS server (IPv4 or IPv6, port 53)—for example Google 8.8.8.8, Cloudflare 1.1.1.1, or AliDNS 223.5.5.5. Leave the field empty to use the server's system default resolver.

How to use it

  1. Enter a domain name (for forward lookups) or an IP address when PTR is selected.
  2. Optionally enter a DNS server address, or pick a preset resolver.
  3. Toggle the record types you care about, or use presets for common or mail-related bundles.
  4. Click Query DNS and read the table: type, value, and MX priority when applicable.
  5. If a type has no data or errors, it appears in the partial-errors panel without blocking other types.
  6. Examples load well-known hosts so you can try the tool immediately.
