Basic Usage
Learn how to use the Image Cropper tool effectively with this step-by-step guide.
Uploading Images
Method 1: File Selection
- Click the "Select File" button in the upload area
- Choose an image file from your computer
- The image will appear in the preview area
Method 2: Drag and Drop
- Drag an image file from your computer
- Drop it onto the upload area
- The image will be automatically loaded
Method 3: Sample Images
- Click on one of the sample image buttons
- The selected sample will be loaded instantly
- Perfect for testing the tool without uploading your own images
Basic Cropping
Step 1: Select Crop Area
- The crop selection box appears automatically when an image is loaded
- Drag the corners to resize the crop area
- Drag the center to move the crop area
- The area outside the selection is dimmed
Step 2: Choose Aspect Ratio
- Free: No restrictions on the crop area shape
- 1:1: Perfect square crop
- 4:3: Traditional photo aspect ratio
- 3:4: Portrait orientation
- 16:9: Widescreen aspect ratio
- 9:16: Vertical video format
Step 3: Crop the Image
- Click the "Crop Image" button
- The cropped result appears in the result panel
- You can see the dimensions and file size
Output Options
Format Selection
- PNG: Lossless compression, supports transparency
- JPEG: Lossy compression, smaller file size
- WebP: Modern format with excellent compression
Quality Control (JPEG only)
- Use the quality slider to adjust compression
- Range: 10% to 100%
- Higher quality = larger file size
- Lower quality = smaller file size but reduced image quality
Custom Size
- Set specific width and height for the output
- Leave blank for "Auto" to maintain original dimensions
- The aspect ratio will be preserved based on your crop selection
Saving Your Work
Download
- Click the "Download" button
- The image will be saved to your default download folder
- Filename format:
cropped-image.[format]
Copy to Clipboard
- Click the "Copy" button
- The image is copied to your system clipboard
- You can paste it directly into other applications
Reset and Start Over
- Click the "Reset" button to return to the original crop area
- Upload a new image to start with a different source
- The tool maintains your format and quality settings
