Basic Usage
This guide walks you through a complete dead-pixel test from start to finish.
1. Open the Tool
Navigate to /screen-dead-pixel-detector from the homepage or search for "dead pixel".
2. Choose a Test Mode
Color Test (Recommended for Beginners)
Best for finding dead and stuck pixels. The tool cycles through red, green, blue, white, black, and gray.
Gradient Test
Best for checking color banding and uniformity. Eight gradient patterns are tested sequentially.
3. Configure Fullscreen
Enable Fullscreen Mode (on by default) so the test covers your entire display. This is the most reliable way to spot single-pixel defects.
4. Start the Test
- Click Start Test
- Your browser enters fullscreen (if enabled)
- The first test color or gradient appears
- Carefully scan the entire screen for anomalies
5. Navigate Between Colors

The test automatically ends after the last color in the sequence.
6. Mark Problematic Pixels
While the test is running, click any suspicious pixel to mark it:
- On a black background, bright dots are classified as dead pixels
- On other backgrounds, abnormal dots are classified as stuck pixels
Click the same spot again to remove a mark.
7. Review Results
After stopping the test, the Detection Results panel shows:
- Dead pixel count
- Stuck pixel count
- Marked pixel locations on the preview
8. Export or Clear
- Export Report — downloads a JSON file with full test details
- Clear Marks — resets all marked pixels for a new pass
Tips for Accurate Detection
- Test in a dimly lit room to make defects easier to see
- Keep your eyes 30–50 cm from the screen
- Scan systematically: left to right, top to bottom
- Run the test on each monitor if you use multiple displays
- Repeat the test after adjusting brightness to 100%
